Drill to work on basics in small areas
Set up as shown, D will be down on their knees. Not shown will be coaches placed down by the goal line near where the D will pick up a puck. Coach will be there as a blocker forcing the D to choose which F to pass to for the breakout.
Drill starts on whistle with D standing and going to retrieve a puck curling to the inside of the ice. Forwards go in motion as well with inside F curling down around the circle heading to boards at hash marks ready to receive breakout pass. Outside F crosses through circle and opening up looking for a pass.
F PLAYERS MUST FACE D PLAYER THE ENTIRE TIME !!!
D player will access situation and choose which F would be the safest breakout pass based on where the coach is acting as a blocker.
Once pass has been made F with the puck goes behind the net and tries for a stuffer or some form of scoring chance including passing to D player. F who did not receive the pass becomes a defending player
