Description

Multi layer drill that will be expanded on as time goes on

Set up as shown and start of whistle, coach passes to D

The center forechecks the D while the wingers get to the hash marks for a breakout pass.

D retreats behind the net and uses the net as a screen or a pick separating him or herself from center. Center reads play and pressures the D .

The D reads the C and comes out on open side (whichever side is open) and makes a break out pass to one of the wings.

On Version 1 the centers job is complete and skates out of the zone along the boards and out of the play.

The D reads the wingers as they cross ice and drop pass to each other and come in the zone on a 2 on 1. We prefer the D stay in the middle but shading themself to the player without the puck.

This allows the G to focus on the puck carrier and the D takes away the pass option.
After a shot has been taken drill is over and all players skate to the outside as fast as possible so they do not hold up the next group.

After players have crossed ice after breakout the next line rushes to get in place so the drill can continue to flow.

Notes: Version 2 the center that is forechecking the D man becomes the D mans partner creating a 2 on 2 instead of a 2 on 1
