Transition Races

Diagrams

Description

Players will be broken into multiple groups. The number of groups depends on the number of players. The coach spots a puck in the faceoff circle. On the "go" signal the players leave from the blue line and skate inside their respective set of pylons and at the bottom they transition backwards. They then skate on the outside (backwards) and at the top the transition to forward and race for a spotted puck. The players get a second to get the shot off before the race is deemed over.

Notes: This transition setup can be varied by doing things such as the figure eight but this increases complexity and provides limited value for evaluations.
