Forecheck: Defend it Gauntlet

Diagrams

Description

-Drill can be ran with whatever forecheck you are running.
-Setup is a single 5 man unit ready to defend their blue line against an onslaught of 3 man teams trying to break through their defense.
-Progression is to a 4 man and then 5 man attack unit.

-Drill starts with F & D completing a pass up and back from the corner.
-Once the pass is received at the goal line by F; DFW all move into action.
-Fskates up wall, leaving lane for D coming down the wall.
-F drop passes to D, D skates down to attack the net, F pops up to high slot.
-W skates behind the net and get setup for a screen on the goalie.
-D either passes to F in slot for a screen shot or creates a secondary scoring opportunity by hitting the goalie in the pads for a rebound to W or F.

After this quick play, there will be a puck in the opposite corner from where they started. The 3 will pick up the puck and try to make their way up the ice against the waiting 131 trap unit, black X. The play isn't dead just on a chip in. Defense needs to get control and clear it out, but can't be iced. Then the 131 needs to head back up ice and defend again.

Soon as DFW head up ice, the coach will decide and let the next 3 man group start on the opposite side and complete the same wall walk and attack, then head up ice against the 131. Timing is keys so that you don't have 2 groups attacking up ice at the same time. Keep rolling for 4-6 attempts and then switch the 131 unit
