Single Circle Skate (BW) (Station)

Diagrams

Description

All skaters at station to do backwards skate around circle with cross-overs. (Faster skaters are expected to pass slower skaters on the outside.)

Reverse direction about half way through.

Notes: Coaching tips:
- For kids having trouble, skate facing them, staying to the outside of the circle. Continue to ask them to look at you in the face and not their feet. This helps stop them from turning their bodies to see where they are going. Of course, you are now their eyes and need to stop them from hitting anyone.

- For kids trying to cross the wrong foot or cross behind the heel, pull them aside and get them to lean to one side until they are going to fall over and stop themselves by putting the other foot down in the crossover position.
