6 on 3 Passing Keep away

Diagrams

Description

Three different groups. D1, D2,D3 must stay within the yellow area to start. The X players must stay outside the yellow box. No one can cross the goal line or the blue line. On the whistle, the coach passes it to one of the X players. One D player can leave the box to forecheck, but 2 D players must stay in the yellow box. The goal of the X players is to pass to other X players on other side of box. The drill is over if the D blocks a pass or the forechecker gets the puck. X's get a point if they make a successful pass. Players rotate through all zones. If puck goes past the blue line or the goal line, a new puck is passed in by coach.

Notes: X players must move around and focus on completing a pass to other side. D players need to focus on getting a stick on the puck and also knowing where the other players behind them are. Not just focusing on the puck.
