2on2: Low Puck Protection

Diagrams

Description

Cycle Protection Game

- Coach dumps puck in corner.
- Strong side players become attackers while opposite side players become defenders (2on2).
- At the same time, a single strong side player slides into the slot above the ringette line and becomes the only shooter for his team.
- Attackers work the wall protecting the puck through cycles and passes for 15 seconds until coach's whistle.
- Attackers then try and work the puck off the wall and to the shooter (F3).
- Once the puck is moved to the F3 the other 2 attackers drive the net for a screen and tip attempt on the shot.
- If goalie saves it, the puck deflects out or defenders clear puck past the ringette line, then round is done.
- If there's a loose puck, attackers can jam/pop a quick rebound.
- But if puck goes into the corner, attackers can recover and have 10 seconds to get puck back up to F3 for a second shot and chance.
*After second shot and immediate rebound, blow drill down and clear zone. Coach then throws puck in opposite corner and drill restarts but with roles reversed.

Notes: Players can use behind the net and both corners to work the wall.
F3 can't go below ringette line and stays between the dots.
