This drill was created using HockeyShare.com's Online Drill Drawing & Practice Planning Platform.
This is a 5-on-2 drill where the 5 starts with a zone entry. Focus on getting the puck deep and having someone drive the net and another in a supporting position. Give the offensive team a short time to score (i.e. 7 seconds) and then blow the whistle to signal a regroup. The offensive D should skate back into a good position for a regroup for the coach and execute a D-to-D pass. All the forwards should come deep into the neutral zone and will receive a pass from the regrouping D with the puck. The offensive line then executes a second zone entry and attempts to score.
Notes: Coaches can take away passing lanes in the neutral zone to force the defence to look for options and to have the forwards skate into better lanes.
