Tight Area 3 on 2

Diagrams

Description

This is a 3 on 2 situation that encourages contact and playmaking in tight spaces. Players are constrained by the net and the pylons.

O's are on offense with a teammate playing from behind the net. The playmaker behind the net cannot shoot but can pass. This reenforces the "triangle" concept.

X's are on defense. X's must pass to the coach to end the play.

Scoring

While the play ends when O's score or X's get the puck to the coach, X's can score if they execute effective contact. This is not "lighting" up the offensive player. It is executing a hit or pin that results in defense taking control.

Notes: Pair like abilities. It's no point in pairing up a dominant player with players just coming up to speed. The less skilled player will only get frustrated and the better player will not have an opportunity to excel.
