2 on 2 with back check

Diagrams

Description

Coach makes a pass to one of the Wingers to start the breakout. As soon as the coach makes the pass, the C comes from behind the net and tries to catch up to backcheck. D need to start backing up as soon as the winger gets past the hash marks. If the winger gets tied up, he can make a pass to the other winger if he is open for a pass.

Notes: The object is to get the D to keep the break out wingers in front of them. They should always have someone backchecking to try to regain possession. Their goal is to slow them down to give the backcheckers a chance to catch up. Don't take chances trying to hold the puck in unless the player trying to break out has someone on them already. In either case, the other D needs to get back to prevent the other winger from getting behind him. Don't worry about the puck, play the player.
