Moving the puck on the PP

Diagrams

Description

One the left side is mainly a position drill, but there is also a focus on hitting an open man with a pass. Offence is in a PP position with 3 vs 2 down low. Keep the puck moving with passes back to the D, behind the net, to the front if C is open. Coach can step in cover the points if puck movement is good after a while.

Right side of the rink can practice shooting. Coach will demonstrate proper technique for shots, and players can practice by shooting against the boards. If paired up, they can practice passing as well. A breakout pass practice from behind the net might be good as well. Player could receive a pass, turn at the blueline, and then take a shot at the open net.

Notes: All players need to shift when the puck changes sides of the rink. D on the boards pinch inside the blues line, while the other stays slightly behind. Passes from D to D can't be offside so the center D needs to take a step inside the line while receiving the pass. Defenders stay low to cover the forwards. Ideally, someone will be open long enough to get a shot on net. Players can be rotated in from the other end.
