Description

Review basic stance
- Feet a little over shoulder width apart, Butt down, chest up, big shoulders, Elbows in front of body, stick on ice. (Pointer finger on paddle part of stick for control of stick)
- Butterfly Technique -
BLOCKING BUTTERFLY: If puck is right in front of net in a scramble situation - Hips over knees for a tall butterfly, elbows are touching front of body, gap stick, ready loose and active hands, shoulders are big, chin is neutral.
(Drive knees to the ice. Attack the ice with your knees:resulting in no pucks getting underneath pads)
(seal arms to body so no pucks get through. Hands down only on a blocking butterfly)
REACTING BUTTERFLY:If puck is being shot from a distance. - Hips over knees for a tall butterfly, Keep your hands constant and make one reaction movement towards the puck.
HYBRID BUTTERFLY:See youtube video attached. Only if goalie is ready for it.

Notes: See attached Youtube Video from Bill Ladd on proper butterfly technique.
