Puck Support - Passing

Diagrams

Description

Progress to next step as players become comfortable with the "supporting the puck" concept in each situation.
1)Review "puck support" concept
2) X2 supports X1 by skating to corner and turning. Receives pass from X1, continues skating forward and passes to X4. X4 shoots on goalie.
3) X3 supports X2 by timing his arrival to receive pass from X2. X2 passes to X4. X4 shoots on goalie.
4) After passing X1 supports X3 by jumping back into play and receives drop pass from X3. X1 passes to X4. X4 shoots on goalie.
*Other options: X2 stops in corner - ask X1 & X2 how they will respond.

Notes: -Nets are attackers. Substitute with pylon or real players.
-Puck support requires the non-puck carrying (supporter) to provide options for the puck carrier. Supporter is responsible to get open. Supporter responds to puck carrier, attackers and open ice to get in position for a pass. Creates 2 on 1 situations.
