1 v 1 gap control

Diagrams     

Description

X1 skates out with puck (push it on backhand full speed), O skates out.
Both transition at cone.
X1 attacks O1 on a 1 v 1
O1 must control gap - don't get beat, don't get to far ahead.
X1 make best move to get around O1 by extending the puck either to right (red) or left (blue).
O1 must engage at blue line (don't stop feet, don't back into goalie). Transition with X1 with sweep or poke check and skate with X1 to force them wide (Read X1's hips)
Change lines at end of drill.

Notes: optional progression - X1 and X2 pass back and forth down ice, then transition into 2 v 1.
