Chase Racer

Diagrams

Description

Time: 8 (7 mins work / 1 min rest & demo)
Goalies: skating in the drill, partnered up. They race without a puck and only for positioning, 2nd goalie can start right after the 1st, give 1 a lead.

Description:
Player X1 starts off with a puck and proceeds to weave through the pylon course (pylons 1-8). After turning around pylon 8, X1 breaks in on net and takes a shot on net.

Player X2 starts when player X1 reaches the blue line. Player X2, without a puck, chases down player X1 by weaving through the pylon course (pylons 1-8).

If player X2 catches X1, player X2 can steal the puck and continue through the course and take a shot on net.

Key Points:
*Acceleration - quick feet and should be on the balls of their feet, extending the toe out to get max power.
*Tight Turns - hips in shoulders out and turn your head to look where you are going to help manipulate shoulder turn and creating a tighter turn.
*Puck Control - Puck out front for turns (follow the stick). Use of top wrist rotations for cradling the puck around turns is highly important.
