Forecheck Drill, 1-2

Diagrams

Description

On whistle, D1 skates backwards, pivots and gains possession of puck. D1 skates w/ puck and attempts to pass to F1. In parallel, C1 attempts to cut-off D1 before D1 makes the pass.

LW will goes to F1 to breakup the play after D1 makes the pass. C1 will support LW and take his place. If both LW and C1 break up play, they will resume an offensive attack on Goal.

RW will slide over to ensure D1 does not skate through the middle (in the event D1 cannot make that pass to F1).

Notes: On this forecheck, it's important for LW and RW to not attack beyond the face off dots. They play a "zone-like" defense until a pass is attempted from D1.
