PK D-Zone Defending the Overload PP formation if D Walks to middle

Diagrams     

Description

Assuming Puck is at the point on the strong side and the D man is able to walk to the middle of the ice. Left Diagram pass back to strong side Forward. Right Diagram - Pass to weak side D.

Strong Side F - Shadows D as he walks across the blue line staying in the shooting lane forcing a pass to weak or strong side. When puck moves go back to the middle of the ice with stick to the inside in passing lanes.

Strong Side D - if pass goes back to the strong side (Left Diagram) anticipates pass and attacks player on 1/2 wall . If he is late puck will likely get moved down low. He then moves back to the middle with stick to the inside in passing lanes. If pass goes to weak side D (Right Diagram) move back into the slot watching for back door forward coming out from down low.

Weak Side D - If puck goes back to strong side (Left Diagram) anticipates pass down low and closes on forward down low. If pass goes to weak side D (Right Diagram) move to box out forward in front of net.

Weak Side F - If puck goes back to strong side (Left Diagram) must rotate down and cover the most dangerous man in the slot. If pass goes to weak side D (Right Diagram) anticipates pass and attacks player at top of circle keeping body in shooting lane and stick in passing lane.
