2-on-1 Swings
Description
SERIES 1:
Red forward will start drill same time as grey forward on opposite corner (grey will mirror red's movements opposite way). Red passes to green D who pivots backwards and passes back to red as he exits zone. Green will continue forward into NZ and regroup to face 2-on-1. Red passes to orange forward who touch-passes back, then joins in on regroup 2-on-1 back the way they came. Stress that D move their feet and not give and take passes stationary. Also stress that puck carry forwards stay on their side of center to avoid contact / interference with drill running opposite side.
SERIES 2:
Red forward (and grey forward opposite corner) start drill by skating towards D line on same side of boards with puck. Red passes to green D (and grey F to blue D) and get touch-pass back to them. They curl into zone with puck and complete touch-pass with next forward in line on opposite side (orange), who then joins in 2-on-1 rush up ice on blue D. Green D will have pivoted to face 2-on-1 from opposite side after giving touch pass with red F.
SERIES 3:
This time it's a complete swing around the ice and back. Red forward (and F on opposite corner) start with puck skating into the zone and pass across to green D on opposite side, who returns pass to red F leaving zone. Red continues through NZ and touch passes with 2nd F in opposite F line (orange), who then joins the swing into the zone and out the opposite way. Green D will skate around the center ice circle, mirroring the forwards, then pivot backwards to play 2-on-1 opposite side. Again this is mirrored the opposite way by the grey players at the same time.
