BYHA Station Week 3

Diagrams     

Description

1) 2v2 Corner Battle-- Play 2 vs 2, coach spots pucks when needed. Emphasize puck protection & puck support. Don't let players throw puck around.

2) Deke & Accelerate-- Players work on a variety of moves, deking the shaft/tire then protecting the puck while accelerating around cones. Emphasize head & shoulder fakes.
a) dribble, then wide backhand
b) dribble, then wide forehand
c) wide slip thru backhand to forehand
d) wide slip thru forehand to backhand
e) toe pull
f) free-style

3) 2-on-1 Timing-- Defenseman starts play with a 'wheel' play, as D turns up ice F1 skates forward to receive pass. D & F1 perform 3 passes. F1 continues around both tires to exchange puck with F2, then attack net. D gaps up to face 2-on-1.

4) Transition Skating with Shot-- Forward to edge of pad, transition backwards, tight turn backwards then backwards around second pad. As player approaches even with coach, coach passes to player (while backwards), player transition with puck on stick then around cone for shot.

5) Transition Tire Bump Race-- Players race on coach's command; forward, backward, forward around pad. Then race around small tire, as players approach big tires/pad coach bumps puck off of tires. COACHES NOTE: the later you bump puck the more players need to react to puck. Emphasize adjusting & reacting, and battling for pucks
