1 vs. 1 to 2 vs. 1 Battle Drill

Description

Objective of Drill is to ensure forwards attacking Defense player are getting good body position such that the defense player cannot easily skate away to get puck out of zone.

Coach dumps puck into corner. D1 hinges, skates backward, pivots and skates toward puck.

In parallel, F1 is attempting to beat D1 to puck.

D1 and F1 battle for puck. Coach sends F2 to support puck to create a 2-1 situation.

F1 cannot allow D1 to skate away so good positioning and knowing when to take puck away is important.

Forwards to attempt to score.

Notes: Ensure Defense is playing 2-1 smartly. No overcommitting to one player.
