Nagle Drill

Diagrams

Description

RD starts drill by shooting towards net. Goalie stops puck and sets up behind net for LD. All players leave blue line as RD shoots puck.

LD collects puck behind net, and passes to curling LW along boards, who tip passes to curling center.

RD has pivoted to defend against rush out of zone.

RW "pressures" LD behind net until pass is made to LW, then jumps into rush towards opposite net.

LD now backchecks hard to try to help RD defend attack.

Forwards can pass exiting zone and through neutral zone, but stressing driving puck wide and attack triangle setup in offensive zone on gaining blue line.

First coaches whistle stops play, and players return to line. Second whistle starts next line of players.
