Forecheck, Neutral Zone check.

Diagrams

Description

Diagram 1 : 2 - 1 - 2 Forecheck. F1 takes inside lane to puck (makes hit on D) F2 takes inside lane to puck and supports or helps F1 dig (keep sticks down, in passing lanes, turn over pucks, hustle!!!) F3 stays high puck side (leaning towards the middle) If puck changes sides, F3 can pressure but F1 or F2 must back out to high slot.

Diagram 2: 2 - 1 - 2 Neutral Zone: F1 and F2 pressure both D at same time cutting off D to D pass. F3 floats in the middle stick down and reads play. D1 and D2 take away diagonal passes:

Drill: To start all players skate around neutral zone (diagram 1) one whistle coach dumps puck to either zone and forecheck begins. Play out until next whistle where coach can dump a new puck into the opposite zone or the Neutral Zone.
