#1 Stationary puck protection - X protects puck from O by moving around puck keeping O away from it. PUCK SHOULD NEVER MOVE.
O should drop stick and use body to get to puck and kick it out of the way. X should emphasize proper posture; knees bend, back straight, head up.
#2 Copy cat WITHOUT puck - O follows X and vice versa. Full speed at all times and players should try to stay close to each other. Use all space in between blue lines.
#3 Sumo inside circle - all players skate around inside circle, goal is to stay inside circle and on skates. On coaches whistle players are allowed to knock other players out of the circle and/or off their feet. Last man standing wins. Can be done both forwards and backwards.
Emphasize proper body contact, hit with your legs not your arms. Arms down. Head on a swivel.
#4 2-2 - simple 2-2 or 3-3 depending on number of players. If odd numbers, have one player be stationary go to passer who other players need to pass puck to before they score.
#5 Copy cat WITH pucks - same as #3 but with pucks this time. Emphasize high speed and head up. Read and react.
#6 Race for puck - start players on goal line on coaches whistle. Have players complete course, first player who gets to puck shots on net. Allow players to battle for puck around net for 4-5 seconds before starting next two players.
Race can be customized to work on anything. Emphasize speed and encourage/force body contact.
