Full ice 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 gap control

Diagrams

Description

D starts with the puck at the far blue line

He stickhandles the puck to the blue line and then passes to the forward who is waiting at the hash marks on the boards.

The defense pivots to skate backwards and tries to force the forward wide by taking away the middle of the ice and keeping a good gap (roughly 1 zone e.g. blue line to red line or tight enough to touch sticks).

The forward tries to beat the defense wide or to the middle depending on what the defense gives him.

Forwards switch sides each time. Defense stay on the same side of the ice.

Progression: Add a second forward to make it a 2 on 1
