This drill was created using HockeyShare.com's Online Drill Drawing & Practice Planning Platform.
Set players, cones & tires as shown.
This is a high paced drill that takes discipline and 100% concentration.
On coaches whistle D man skates to face off dot, coach then either passes the puck to D man, shots on net and D man retrieves rebound or coach shows puck behind the net. This is why players must pay close attention. While this is going on a F from the opposite side gets in position for breakout pass.
Once the D man has retrieved the puck he then skates outside the cone and makes a crisp breakout pass, the forward then takes off down the ice as if on a breakaway. The D man tries to chase him down from behind.
If the F makes it to the far tire he is clear to take a shot and D man gets in the line with the D men on that end of the ice.
Goalies must move with all the puck carriers as at anytime the coach could blow his whistle and who ever has the puck must make a shot on closest net
Once drill is over move quickly to get out of the way of next group of players as they should be right behind you as this is a flow drill and meant to keep everyone moving and thinking.
Do drill for 5 min then switch side and do in the opposite direction for another 5 min
