Minnesota Drill

Diagrams

Description

X1 passes and skates toward C. C returns pass. X1 passes again to C and then proceeds around center ice circle.

Once X1 is passed the midway point of the circle, he/she pivots toward center ice (or C) and skates backwards.

C will send a pass back. X1 receives pass, pivots again toward center ice and then proceeds down the ice for a shot on net.

X2 can go simultaneously. Be sure to switch sides so that players are going clockwise as well counter clockwise

Notes: Once player is skating backwards and is ready to receive return pass from C, be sure to encourage stick on the ice and receive the pass on either forehand or backhand.
