Description

This is a drill for the defense and the forwards should do just as instructed at first until everyone is comfortable executing this drill and its concepts correctly.

Line players up as shown, on the coaches whistle the D man passes the puck to the first players in each line. The player receiving the puck can not move until he has received the puck, then that player skates in a straight line up the dots until he reaches the center ice red line.

The defensive player charges the player he passed the puck to then pivots into backwards skating once he is within sticks length of the player with the puck. The D man then skates backwards keeping that same distance in gap until he reaches the far blue line.

The player with the puck stops at center ice red line and passes to D man on the Blue line, then skates backwards to the blue line behind him. The D man skates forward until he reaches center ice line where he passes the puck back to the waiting player. The player receiving the puck then skates forward on an offensive rush while the D man again skates backwards closing the gap until a take out play can be made.

The players in line do not go until the players in their lines cross the blue line on the end of the ice that player is trying to score on.
