Diagrams

Description

3 stations - 1 to 2 coaches to each station
Wrist Shot - 2 coaches line them up in front of a target or the goalie, coach feeds the puck out, player receives the pass and takes a shot on the net. Coaches should start by demonstrating a proper wrist shot.

Forwards to Backwards transition - Players start along the boards, skate forwards to the first cone, then transition to backwards and skate down to the second cone in a zig zag patter then come back doing the same thing. Focus on staying in a good balanced hockey position, head up chest out, arms inside, stick on the ice. swinging their hips out on the transition from front to back.

Passing - Stationary with two coaches 5 or so kids to each circle. Spread them out around the circle and get them to pass across the circle to each other. Coaches should have rescue pucks at the ready so that if they miss a coach can feed a new puck in and keep the kids going. Focus on the sweeping motion, looking at your target and receiving, controlling and then making a good pass
5 minutes per station, change on the whistle

Notes: Forwards backwards - knees over toes, back straight, bum out and head up.

Wrist shot - weight transfer, back foot to front foot, elbows off of the body, face of the stick pointed at the target.

Passing - on the ice, accuracy not power, start close together, gradually move them back.
