Agility Warmup

Diagrams

Description

Team is divided into 2 lines at center ice, down on one knee until ready to go.

First player in each line (O's and X's) go together. On whistle, they will perform quick feet crossovers from the outside of the circle, to "fist pump" each other at the faceoff dot, then back to starting point, where they will pick up a puck and begin skating around the center ice circle and back towards the neutral zone faceoff dot, where they will pivot to backwards skating, still controlling the puck. They go to the opposite side faceoff dot and pivot forwards, then move in and shoot on goal.

After shooting, they will move down low in the zone and prepare to receive a pass from the next skater in their line.

The next skater in line will complete the same course on the whistle, however on entering the zone they will "give and go pass to the previous player down low before shooting, and then take his spot. Player down low will then move to the back of the line opposite his starting point (ie/ X's become O's, O's become X's).

Notes: A coach in each end can also provide the passing option for the first skater.

Tempo is to be stressed. Quick feet are necessary to keep the drill moving.
