Neutral Zone Read and React 2 vs 0

Diagrams

Description

1. F1's swing at far blueline
2. Coach passes to a F2 as F1's pick up speed
3. F2 passes to fastest F1
4. F1's finish 2 vs 0 (Rule: must make pass between blueline and top of circles--allows for a second pass [young inexperienced players feel the need to present their partner with an open net so rarely change the point of attack])
5. X's now start the drill in the opposite end.

Notes: Players must recognize the fastest skater, and pass to her. This introduces the aspect of "unpredicictibility" and problem solving.

Progression:
1.(GREY)4 vs 0...X1 and X2 skate up boards once F1's reach centre red line. Coach passes to either X1 or X2 for attack.
2.(YELLOW) Gamelike 4 vs 2...F2's jump out to defend, either as a Defenceman or as a backchecker vs F1.
