1 on 1 - Close the gap

Description
Forward and Defenseman leave at the same time. Forward takes a few strides then makes a pass to the coach.
Coaches move the puck back and forth between each other.
Forward swings down for the break-out pass, defense must stay close and keep the gap closed.
If the coach decides to NOT pass the puck to the Forward right away, he must swing back into the zone again and prepare for the pass again. The defense must keep the gap closed. Once the coach decides to give the forward the pass he skates down the ice for a 1 on 1.
Notes: Change it up, don't always make the same amount of passes between the coaches. Forced the players to read the play and adjust.
Add a 2nd forward for a 2 on 1 instead.
Switch the coaches for defenseman once they understand the drill.
