Angle Gate

Diagrams

Description

Defensive IQ drill that has benefits of high speed. Key to this drill is to teach the D that their angle to the net needs to be such that they don't open up the middle to the forward. The strict skating lanes and the pylon at the blue line will force the majority of this path. Skating straight back continuously opens up that option as you approach the net, so talk to the D that don't begin their angle towards the net at the blue line. Additionally, they need pivot at high velocity as the forward will already be at full speed.

For F's that start on their "on" wing, they should Crosby across the first cone for the shot.
