Basic Stationary Passing Technique Progressions

Diagrams     

Description

Across From your Partner follow progression
Proper Stance/Starting Position
1) Knees bent (Flexed)
2) Feet shoulder width
3) Hips flexed
4) Eyes & Chest up
5) Top hand away from the body
Proper Passing technique
1) Look at target (External Cue)
2) Cup puck by slightly rolling wrists or Pusing hands low
3) Accuracy - Allow blade to follow through low to target. Or Toe points at target
4) Power - a) Get top hand further away and Pull as you push on bottom hand b) Transfer weight like in a wrist shot.
Pass Receiving
1) Present your Blade
2) Hands away from the body
3) Cup blade and keep it square
4) Strong bottom hand
5) Absorb pass with arms & or wrists
When Pass recieving you are either 1) Trying to control the puck 2) Recieving it in a shooting position 3) Recieving it to make another pass immediately
Work on recieving in all scenarios (off feet, backhand , 1 hand, in front of you behind you

Notes: Progressions:
1) Stand close together & Pass and recieve with just wrists (roll on pass, absorb on catch)
2) Stand further apart and pass harder. Hands in front and absorb back to a shooting position, Shift weight and push hard on stick to make pass
3) Recieve in bad position. Give a target that is not perfect.
