Description

1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3 protect the dot

This is a defensive positioning battle drill.

Divide the group up into two teams, one team will be on defense, one team will be on offense. The teams can switch each time.

The drill starts with one of the offensive team with the puck, and one of the defensive team guarding him. When the coach says go, the offensive player will try to get the puck to the dot, and the defensive player will protect the dot, keeping the player to the outside. After 10-20 seconds the next two players can join the game to make it a 2 on 2. After another 10-20 seconds the 3rd pair of players can join.

Categories: Defense, Puck Control
Tags: Defensive players need to keep good defensive positions, keeping themselves between the offensive player and the dot.
