Faceoff positioning

Diagrams

Description

Defensive Zone Coverage - LD must be first to the puck if we win it back. If there is not clear winner of the face off he can support the Centerman until he knows where the puck goes. RD is positioned to cover the opponents LW. RW needs to get out to cover the point if they win the faceoff or to the far hashmarks if we win it back. The Center is responsible for the opponents centre if he losses the faceoff.

Offensive Zone Faceoff - If we loose the faceoff the RW must pressure the Deeman and if he skate behind the net he will NOT follow him if he continues to skate. The LW must get over to his spot and prevent the puck carrier from skating any further than the back of the net. Centerman will continue to man-up with the the opponents Centre. If the Deeman makes a pass to his winger sitting on the hash (halfwall) the LD must presure. The RD must cover for the LD and the RW is now Covering for the RD. This must be done with URGENCY. We have gone over this in Practice.....lets get it done!!!
