Continuous Breakout Drill

Diagrams     

Description

1) X1 starts drill by skating behind net with puck.
2) X1 then makes breakout pass to O1 along half wall.
3) At same time X2 is skating into zone (timing) to circle in for breakout pass from O1 along half wall.
4) X2 then breaks out of zone with puck and attacks zone making move on coach or net to forehand or backhand shot.
5) While X2 is shooting the drill is starting again with X3 skating behind net with puck while X1 is now along half wall and O1 is skating out of zone then circling into zone for breakout pass from X1 along half wall.

Notes: - Timing is critical for drill success.
- Coach can apply pressure to player along half way that is attempting to make breakout pass.
- Coach can apply pressure to shooter to force him to his backhand or forehand.
