Wide 2 on 1 with Backchecker

Diagrams

Description

Designate four backcheckers. One forward line and one D. On the whistle O1 and O2 leave from the HASH marks with one puck and at the same time the BC leaves from the goal line. They tighten the gap between them and move the puck down the ice. BC comes hard thru the dots and then decides who they are taking between blue and red lines and they communicate with the D who they have. They also ensure to get the inside lane and take thier man right to the post or whereever they end up until the play is over. If the BC takes away play earlier then the 2 on 1 is finished. Once that play is over then coach blows whistle to start the other end. This is a continous drill up and down the ice.

Notes: If the gap is too wide between the forwards to generate flow then start closer together and do up and down one side. See Narrow Backcheck 2 on 1
