Power Skating - Best Strides Ever

Description

Use ice available to practice components of a good forward stride, break into age squads as needed:
1. left foot only, down 2. right foot only (long strides, low stance)
3. both feet, no arms yet (aim for low stride count with strong strides)
4. introduce end stride thrust with ankle rotation (continue to count strides)
5. describe and practice rapid recovery of stride foot
6. direct proper arm movement, 2 medium speed then 2 full speed
---(take a knee, explain crossover principles of both edges and spring-like motions)---
7. crossovers forward, how far? crossovers forward, how fast? both...no recovery
