Power Skate Rotations 1

Diagrams     

Description

3 Skating Rotations:
A - Cone Tight Maneuvers: select from list and run thru a few times each with extra instruction as needed, no sticks:
1. Stops, 2-feet or 1-foot
2. inside edge hold or outside edge hold
3. tight turns, touch cone (punch turns for advanced)
4. scoots/shuffles 360 around each cone
5. mohawks
6. pivots (always face one way)
7. escapes (like pivots but sharp turn at back cones)
B - Crossovers: based on skills pick from list:
1. work at boards with back foot toe at puck to practice extension/balance
2. around circle, outside foot push only
3. around circle, inside foot push only
4. around circle, both feet with stick resting on shoulders turning inside
5. overspeed at circle (spiral shape)
6. backwards crossovers (outside foot only for new skaters)
7. fast feet pivots at boards (for advanced)
C - Fast Feet Obstacle Course: modify as needed:
1. start as shown, quick start jump over stick and dive under pad
2. enter iron cross and complete as shown (for advanced, jump over sticks)
3. exit iron cross to middle pad, 360 circle around cone (younger players carry cone to finish) and around iron cross to finish
4. new players no sticks, advanced players complete with puck after few times


Notes: stations for specific edgework techniques at cones, crossover mechanics, and fast feet obstacle course
