Penalty Kill 4 man Box

Diagrams

Description

The key to successfully using the box penalty kill lies in all four players not over committing and playing a passive positional box.

Sticks must be moving the whole time especially covering the middle passing lanes.

Heads on swivels, always be looking around especially the D in front of the net for any backdoor attacks.

Is it a scoring threat?? Only the strong middle D and the backdoor F in Red are the true scoring threats.

No rules in front of the net!!! Do what ever it takes to clear out the front of the net (legally). Goalie must have a clear view of the shots.

Notes: Essential to maintain position and not over commit. Let the opposition pass the puck around all they like. Shots should only come from the D if played well.
