D to W Breakout

Diagrams

Description

D retrieves puck and pauses giving wingers time to set up position on hash marks with butt on boards and stick in lane (target). Center reads play and curls to the side the D passes to and supports winger communicating and letting winger know they are there and whether the D is pinching. Winger receiving the pass has options. 1. quick pass to center 2. chip off the boards (pinching D) 3. skate puck out (center covered and D backs off giving up skating lane).

Notes: All players MUST talk to each other letting them know if they are open and/or whether someone is attacking. This is crucial for execution of any breakout but especially D to W because winger is trying to ge tpuck and then make play.
