Breakout Drill

Diagrams

Description

Pucks behind the net. First D starts by pivoting at the net and picking up a puck and passing to one of the wingers (l or R doesnt matter) The wingers and center start at the Blue line and come down as its their turn to breakout. Once the D hits both wingers and the curling center then they grab a puck and do a quick from the corner so there are four breakouts per group the D can practice. The quick up can be done by leaving pucks behind the net or have a coach put one in the corner and they do it from there (more like a game). Once they go through it then coming back they can work on other breakouts like D to D, D reverse and D backdoor reverse

Notes: This should be executed at game speed and add coaches or other players for pressure so they are doing these like a game situation. Head is up always looking up ice before they grab each puck. C and W pay attention and be where you are suppose to be to keep flow going.
