The Wave

Diagrams

Description

Start from both ends on the whistle; # players leave one after the other from each corner with pucks; 2nd and so on don't leave the hash marks until the player ahead of you is at the top of the circle (gives goalies a little time); after the shot circle low and get a pass from the coach or pick up a puck and flee the zone wide. Player 1 stays wide and shoots at the DOTS; Player2 after crossing the red line cuts hard to middle lane and shoots top of circles; Player 3 cuts really wide around far dot and shots just inside Blue line and drives the net for rebound as Player 1 and 2 are screening and deflecting. Once net is clear and goalie resets blow start the next 6 players.

Notes: Lots of spin off drills you can add. You can have the 3 players who are up next to fire long passes across ice to the first 3 players who shot. These should be like stretch passes and make sure they don't cut into lanes until after they cross the Center; also when deflecting or screening if two opposite shots are in front then try to get on off-side for a quicker release.
