You can teach a lot of subtle skills in this drill. Teach passers to give “false information†or no-look passes. Teach players away from the puck to get open and use the width of their given space. Teach rapid puck movement. Teach defensive stick skills. This drill works on passing, O-zone play, D-zone play, power play, penalty kill and team play.

Find a soft spot to support offense in good defensive position

Excellent game to teach players to compete; offensive players attack the net and defensive players compete and strip the puck
With the regroup, offensive players need to get open which is usually the outside ice, defensive players should check from the “inside outâ€
Defensive players try to intercept the coach pass, offensive players need to get open, show their stick and call for the pass

Force players to change directions as much as possiable. Force them to speed up into gaps.
